Products in this review. UA Elite Tactical, Free Soldier, Condor Sentinel, and Helikon Tex Urban. Products were evaluated using the following categories. Quality of materials and construction, Fit/feel, and finally functionality.UA ET – Pros: Heavy duty material, durable construction with double stitching on important seams. Sizing was true. Ordered a 30/ 34, got exactly that. Velcro waist and ankle closures. Plenty of pockets located in useful locations. Cons: No waist adjustment or elastic waistband. Bulky like many manufactures of tactical pants, UA has made these in the older now out of date bulky styling. You would need to have legs like an NFL linebacker in order to fill them. This is important to two reason. Too much fabric and the pants tend to rub causing chaffing, especially true when pockets are loaded with equipment. Second is noise reduction, the more fabric you have the noisier they will be. Points lost for price point, original retail was $299.99, later dropped to $199.99. This line has been discontinued. I have not tried the new line of UA tacticals as of yet. Largely do to their higher price points.Condor Sentinel – Pros: Like all the others sampled material and stitching was good. Sizing was true, ordered a 32/34, and got exactly that. Best feature of these was the internally structured elastic waistband. They were by far the most comfortable in the waist of the four I tried for this review. Cons: After that not much to speak of. More of a cargo pant really. No lower leg pockets, Button waist closure instead of Velcro. No leg closures. Gusset or groin area was huge, and disproportioned. Same bulky Construction as UA ET. This pair was the only pair of the four I actually returned. Price point was solid at about $50.Helikon Tek Urban – Pros: Solid construction, custom sizing, ordered a 30/34, fit was true. Velcro waistband closure. Modern athletic cut, no extra fabric. Great overall fit and feel. Good pocket configuration, especially liked the thigh set up. One magazine Velcro pocket on inner thigh, and one large (cell phone/ wallet) pocket on outer thigh, both legs. Cons: No lower leg pockets or closure. Belt loops, too many, too wide. There is hardly any room for belt accessories should you choose to add them to your belt. I wear these weekly, they are exactly as advertised, an Urban Tactical. Which is really a hybrid between cargo and true tactical. If you are looking for a low bulk, slimmer modern fit utility pant. These will do nicely. Points lost for price point at around $75. These should be in the 40 - 50 range.Free Soldier – Pros: Heavy duty materials with double stitching. Pockets galore, from clip/ magazine pockets to large cargo. Seriously they are everywhere. Mole system (left side only), lower leg pockets. Adjustable Velcro waist straps. Cons: No custom sizing. Asian sizing is always a problem, especially in the length. I am a 30/34, so I ordered a medium for length. Waist is a bit big, but prewash length was ok. Would have liked a bit more length. Not a problem if you are under six feet, but taller than that and these will run short on you. Bulky old school design, too much fabric like the others mentioned previously. No lower leg closures. Button waist closure instead of Velcro. Mole system is rare on pants, I like that they added it however it is of little use on the left side to me, because like most of the world’s population I am right handed. Price point solid at $50.Of the four I tested Free soldier was the best true tactical pant, they are the closest to being what I would consider the best tactical pants ever. Because they are I am including a message to the designers in the hope they will take to heart some of my suggestions.Free Soldiers designers: Please add the following features. Sizing, sizing, sizing, we need custom waist and lengths great than 32 inches. Add an elastic waistband, take a look at Condors internal elastic waistband. Add the mole system to the right side. Try a more modern fit, slim down the bulk. Add leg closures. Finally, a Velcro flap waist closure. Do these things and you will be alone in the market place.Noisy. Very "swishy". Great utility, however. I will be ordering a few more pairs. Any sharp objects running across them will cause the cut surface layer to fray, so keep that in mind.**1 YEAR UPDATE** Aside from the aforementioned issue with sharp objects, these pants are proving to be worth every penny. The side "tech" pockets can be finicky, though. I use the right pocket a lot, and the bottom has started to open up, so pens and other smaller items go straight to the ground instead of in the pocket. The material is pretty thin, and not very weather resistant, but that's not the feature of these pants to begin with. Storage potential is amazing; pockets everywhere! Seriously, I can't mention enough how many pockets there are, it's awesome. The elastic waist has held up incredibly, outlasting 2 belts in less than one year, and still nice and snug.Other than these issues, I LOVE THESE PANTS. Just ordered my second pair. Areas for improvement would be a winter version using a thicker material (I work at 8,000'-13,000', summer and winter), heavier reinforcement on the pockets and... well... I dunno, a built in bottle opener(?).I purchased cargo pants from Dickies, and from Galls their least expensive and their 511 Tac lite pants and these. I purchased a different size based on what was said in reviews. They fit me well. I an a 36x32 and I purchased 34x30 .The extra pockets inside the cargo pockets I find annoying but I going to wait and see if I get use to it. The front of the flap on the cargo pocket is sewn down and this I do find annoying. The extra pocket in the main pocket I use all the time for my keys. There is a slim knife pocket just to the back on both side that take my flashlight at just the right spot that I can sit down in comfort. They also seem slightly less wide on the leg than the tac lite 501s. They look the best of four different pants I tried if that matter to you. There is enough room in the knife pocket for a large cell phone. Of all the pants I tried these are my favorite. I almost tried Galls more expensive line (about 70.00) because they felt soft to the touch but they would not hold my cell phone so I passed. The fit on these is perfect, and they appear to be well made. Plenty of storage, and very comfortable.Would definitely recommend.I've bought a pair in every color & own two pairs in charcoal. They're THAT good. The fit is a little snug in the waist so consider going up a size there, the elastic will make up the difference. I wear the 34/32" with and without a 1.5" belt just fine. Fit is roomy enough in the legs without feeling as baggy as ACU pants. The hook and pile is enough to do the job but not annoyingly oversized like on ACUs or other tactical pants. These are by and far the most comfortable tactical pants I own. The split inner pockets in the cargo pockets for magazines or phones are a nice touch as are the inner change pockets in both front pockets. I like that both sides are mirrored in features. Great for us lefties out there. All in all I found these to be worth buying multiple pairs. They're a great tactical pants, EDC, or work pant. Best bang for your buck when it comes to quality, fit, features, and price.I have 5 pairs of these (4 navy and 1 black) (just ordered 4th navy). Quality wise these are just as good as 5.11 and fit wise they are better. I had X2 36 waist as generally a 34 can be tight but now switched to 34 and they fit perfectly.More pockets than you can shake a stick at and the internal dividers are a very nice addition. Knee pad area are non intrusive when not been used and handy when required. As for the company, a true test is when something doesn't go to plan and Military 1st passed with flying colours when the royal mail seemed to lose a pair that they had sent. Contact and comms with these guys was easy and seamless and new replacement pants sent and quickly. Will keep using them and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.Awesome trousers - just do not use all the poskets! There is so many, you will simply get lost in them! :)These are quality trousers I will be buying a smaller sizeThey're not in the photo, - but they're there. These plastic loops are very sturdy and extremely convenient for attaching keys and wallet chain. They won't break, crack or detach. I thought at first the company changed that aspect and got rid of them but I'm glad they didn't. This is the third time I'm buying these pants the last 8 years and they really last. If they're the only pants you wear - they will last you 2-3 years, maybe even longer if you're careful. Previous pair survived a really nasty fall on the asphalt when I was running, chasing after a document picked up by the wind. Bruised and cut my knee right through the pants, but the pants didn't tear, just slightly scuffed. Yes, there are better cargo/military/security pants out there, but not for the price of Sentinel 608. I really wish they were still sold in army/navy/outdoor stores in Canada. Delivery was fairly speedy, came long before the final date. I would definitely consider buying these from the same seller again if he still has my size.Great pants for security, law enforcement, or any job like that. Sheds the rain and are very comfortable. They aren't quite of the 5.11 quality but pretty close.Update after wearing these for 2 days a week to work for 5 months they have failed catastrophicly. They rip badly and fade quickly. At a price tag of 50$ they aren't bad but at 70$ they are not at all worth it.See new photo
